Highly Commended

We are thrilled to announce that Pioneer Catchment Landcare has been awarded “Highly Commended” at the 2023-2024 Queensland Landcare Awards! This recognition means the world to us, as it celebrates our passion and dedication to preserving our beautiful environment. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and all our hardworking volunteers. Together, we are making a difference!

New Chair

Kirili Lamb is Pioneer Catchment Landcare’s new Chairperson, taking on the reins following Judith Wake’s careful but short guidance as Acting Chairperson, and Sharon Dwyer’s many years in the Chair steering PCL through a growth period.
“I’m honoured to take on the role, and acknowledge the strong work of past chair-people,” she said. “It is a pleasure to be back working with PCL after a few years away.”

Water Mouse (Xeromys myoides)
Sandringham Bay

The project, established in collaboration with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service
(QPWS), focused on gathering pre- and post-prescribed burn data at Sandringham Bay
Conservation Park. Building upon a similar 2018/19 initiative, the primary goal was to evaluate
the current Water Mouse presence in areas where it had been previously documented.
